*The majority of our DVSA tests have a start time between 13:00 and 15:00. Moreover, although, we strive to provide as much time between the starting time and test time this is not always possible depending on test availability.
MODULE 1
The Module 1 Test consists of 11 different manoeuvres, which have to be performed at test conditions. The first time pass national average rate is around 35%. The largest factor affecting passing rates is sufficient training. Retest fee Module 1, costs £225 (training / test escort) + 15 (test) fee= £240. Waiting time is around 1-3 weeks.
We strongly advise all our students to do at least two (2) training days, e.g.:
1st day: 09:30 to 16:30 Training Objective: to get used to our 600cc+ bikes and properly train for test manoeuvres
2nd day: 09:30 to 16:30 Training and Test: Objective: to train further for the test manoeuvres, to be escorted by our instructors to the DVSA Test Centre and to do your Module 1 Test in the afternoon.
We strongly believe that anything less than two days training, is just not sufficient training for most riders.
MODULE 2
We will only be capable to fully assess your skills in regards to module 2, when are conducting your module 1 training, as we will have a better idea of how you ride on the UK roads, your highway code knowledge, your road discipline, roadcraft and other skills. We will then suggest the best course of action in regards to your module 2 training (e.g. how many days you will need 1, 2, etc.). However, we would recommend at least two (2) full days.
Further Information regarding the Module 2:
The Module 2 Test consists of a minimum 40 minutes road ride. At the start of the test, the examiner will brief you. You will have an eye-sight test and be asked a number of safety questions before being given a final briefing. The rest of the test will be conducted on the road. Within the 40 minutes road ride test, there will be an independent riding section of the test, which will last approximately 10 minutes. You will be expected to be able to transcend your knowledge in regards to the Highway Code, the Motorcycle Theory Test as well as the concepts outlined in the DVSA Guide To Riding book. Your examiner will be observing you in regards but not limited to:
Road Discipline / Road Positioning
Junction approach procedures (including OSMPSL)
Slip road approach procedures (including IPSGA)
Cornering and bends: position, entry, exit, and approach procedures (including IPSGA)
Roundabout approach, entry and exit procedures (including multi-lane and star roundabouts)
Appropriate use of speed (including National Speed limit roads)
Use of signals (including handsignals where/if necessary)
Appropriate observations (including mirrors and lifesavers where necessary)
Appropriate separation distance
Appropriate use of brakes
Hazard awareness: identification, processing and reaction
Forward Planning
Lane Discipline and Lane Changing
Road signs identification and reaction
Among many others
The first time pass national average rate for the Module 2 is around 35%. The largest factor affecting passing rates is sufficient training. Retest fee Module 2, costs £225 (training / test escort) + £75 (test fee)= £300. Waiting time is around 2-4 weeks.
The DVSA has strict guidelines for practical tests examinations, so it is very important to us to provide enough training that results in success for our trainees, and keep our five-star reputation with the former and the latter.
In regards to our Module 2 training days, your instructor will assess your theoretical knowledge of the elements of the Module 2 as part of an in-classroom lesson in the morning, as well as on-road practice. In addition, sometimes the instructor may suggest that the practical training takes place at the test centre area so that you can familiarise yourselves with the test centre area and some of the most common likely routes that your examiner may take you to. Your instructor will liaise with you regarding this on the day of your training. However, this is not always necessary/useful, as the most important factor is for you to learn to ride safely and apply the conceptual frameworks outlined above consistently since every test centre has over 20 different routes and countless variations.
We strongly advise all our students to do at least two (2) training days for each Module.
The bikes we use: Brand new Yamaha MT-07 (restricted for the A2 and unrestricted for the Category A), in our opinion the best bikes to pass your test. Incredibly manoeuvrable, relatively light and very reliable.
We do offer training during the weekends (Module 2 training only as our training area is used for CBTs during the weekend). In addition, the test days are Monday to Friday only, since the DVSA only conduct motorcycle tests during the weekdays (London test centres: Enfield, Uxbridge and Mitcham).
One training day costs £225 - 09:00 to 16:00.
Test fee for the Module 1: £15.50
Test fee for the Module 2: £75
A typical course (Module 1 & 2) would be at least 4/5 days training.
